Plaza Arts has a dedicated classroom space. A calendar of classes is offered throughout the year with classes for youth and adults. The classroom is available for rent by teachers.

“Under Wraps”

Clothed Figure Drawing Sessions

Bring your pencils, charcoal, chalk, or paint and join us for clothed figure drawing sessions with live models. No instruction. Non-competitive atmosphere. All skill levels welcome!

$25 for each two-day session.  Wednesday evenings will provide shorter poses. Thursday evenings will provide one or two longer poses.

Plein Air Painting/Drawing Group

Calling all artists! Beginners and experts alike! If you enjoy painting or drawing outdoors, please come and join us for these plein air adventures! We will meet in front of Plaza Arts Center at 9:00 on the last Sunday of each month to arrange carpooling and to determine the exact destination location. Pack a lunch and stay as long as you like. There is no instruction or fee for these sessions, but we do request that you register by contacting Thorjia Vaughn at 473-9818/ artadventure@comcast.net .  Below are the locations and dates of each session:

Clay Camp for Children

The sculptures will be fun and interesting – real treasures! They will introduce children to various techniques that can be used in working with clay as well as a subtle emphasis on the elements of art (space, form mass, etc.) to create a 3 dimensional piece of artwork. They will experience the wonderful feel of clay!

The Art in You! An Art Adventure Discovery Camp

Come and discover the art in you! Explore the art of print making, use modeling clay, paint with acrylics and watercolor, draw with pastels and colored pencils, build a sculpture with recyclable materials, and create colorful collages.  Each day will include different lessons and time to explore a variety of materials.

Introduction to Silk Painting with Kim Meyer

In this introductory class Kim will discuss the differences between silk dyes and paints, and the various products on the market. You will learn about resist techniques, stretching and pinning of silk, salt technique, and she will help you find the best tools to get started on a new passion - Silk Painting! Mosaic Workshop for Adults

Learn to create amazing art out of broken dishes!  Mosaic artist, Kathy Joseph, teaches “pique assiette” (It’s pronounced  “peek ossy yet”) a colorful French folk art, where one takes old broken china and anything else that's interesting to look at and turns it into something creative and amazingly beautiful.  Bring your mother, bring your daughter, and create some wondrous fun family heirlooms.

Kathy provides all materials including bins of china and a choice of items to use as bases: pots, trays, mirrors, picture frames, etc. You are welcome to bring your own special larger project if you feel ambitious.
